Hotel Quito

Hotel Quito is a comfortable hotel between the old and new parts of Quito, with great views and gardens.

About Hotel Quito

The Hotel Quito, has arguably the best location in town, with beautiful views across the city of Quito on one side, and across the valley of Tumbaco on the other side. Set between the new and old parts of Quito, the hotel was built in the 1960’s and the main building has an art-deco style. The hotel has a large and bright lobby, a heated outdoor pool, and lovely gardens which are regularly visited by hummingbirds. The rooms are spacious and well lit, all with private bathrooms. The buffet breakfasts here are great, in the hotel’s ‘Roof of the World’ (Techo del Mundo) restaurant with fantastic views across Quito and the valley, the hotel also offers good international and local cuisine. We recommend the executive rooms with views across the valley as the best option in the hotel.

Setting

Hilltop with 360 degree views of Quito and Valley of Tumbaco.

Insider Knowledge

Facilities

Rooms

Rooms in three categories, standard, executive and suites each with a view either across the city or the valley (we always recommend valley views if available). For our group trips we use executive rooms.

Food & Drink

The Techo del Mundo restaurant has fantastic views, and has a great buffet breakfast with all the traditional breakfast offerings as well as some local favourites. The restaurant is also a good option for an evening meal too, often with a live pianist and great views of the city lit up at night.

Activities

The location of Hotel Quito is between the old and new parts of Quito which means it is well located to visit attractions on both parts of the town.   We always recommend the best way to get the most out of a day spent in Quito is on a private guided tour with one of our team of bilingual guides ensuring you get to see the main highlights and get invaluable expert and local knowledge and the chance to see a local food market, or craft market or if you would like a museum with your guide.  However if you have some free days in Quito or want to explore on your own there are a number of places you can visit.  The main highlights are in the historic old town of Quito, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful colonial architecture and churches.  If you enjoy a good view, on a clear day the teleferico is a good option which takes you up the east side of Pichincha Volcano which gives you good views over Quito, but it takes you to almost 4000 meters so altitude can be an issue and it will be cold and windy up there.  For lovers of museums, we love the Casa de Alabado, a wonderful little museum in the old town of Quito, Casa Museo Guayasamin and the National Museum of Ecuador.   For art lovers, you will love the Capilla del Hombre, an impressive and moving collection of art from Ecuador’s most famous artist Oswaldo Guayasamin.   For all of these activities you just need to ensure as well as organizing your taxi to get to the place (which is relatively easy and can be done by the hotel reception) that you organize the transport for getting back.
